Our Mimi

There was a memorial service for Mrs. Robertson on Sunday. It was held at the assisted living center where she had been living for the last few months. She was one of the most wonderful people that I have known. She was always there for me over the years. She was the best mother in law, friend, mentor, grandmother - she meant the world to me and to many others; I will miss her terribly.

The picture on the right is Mr. and Mrs. Robertson dancing at Amy and Paul's wedding reception. Barry said he had never seen them dance before. They were so cute! - married for 65 years.

This is Amy's sister, Elizabeth and her pet bird.

Meighan got a hold of my camera and took some pictures - not bad.

Another one.

And another...and many more that were unrecognizable.

The kids were fascinated with the bird.

Alex was a little excited.

Sweet Meg, wondering what happened to her hair bow.

This is Willis' youngest daughter, Katherine and his grandaughter Kennedy (her Mom is Eleanor Morgan, Willis' older daughter).

Summer fun

We had Ian and Emmy for the weekend and decided to check out the pool at Pocohontas Park. There were 4 pools - a baby pool, this pool with the playground, a 3- foot deep pool, a 5- foot deep pool and 2 waterslides. We really had fun and wish we had checked it out earlier in the summer. We are planning on going on Labor Day and take the twins and any other family members that want to tag along.

A little knitting,cooking and gardening

A little garden update. This is the first bloom on my moonflower. These are annuals and they bloom at about 6:00 pm. They are just gorgeous.

This was our corn harvest. There wasn't much of it but it was very tasty. Hopefully we will have a better harvest next year.
Dave shucking the corn.
The corn stalks never got very full, kind of spindly looking....

This is sesame chicken. Dave said it was the best meal I ever made for him. I'm not sure about that but it was pretty tasty.

I have started Christmas knitting. This is a scarf that works up pretty fast. It is called "Spiral Scarf" It is a lot prettier than this photo. I will take another picture later. It is made with Mohair yarn and is very soft.

Another Spiral Scarf. This is made with worsted weight yarn. Different yarn - different look.

Another view of the burgandy scarf.

Okay, this is my very first knitted purse. It is made with 100% wool and it is to be felted. Felting is a process that I am a little nervous about. The purse is very large now. The next step is to wash it in very hot water and it will shrink and the knit stitches sort of adhere to each other and the item becomes thick and fuzzy. You have to check it very often during the process, to be sure that the item doesn't shrink too much. I will have the finished purse ready within the next week, I hope - I have bought a pretty trim to go around the top. Wish me luck!

Braves Baseball

We took Ian and Samantha to a Braves game. We had great seats and there was a lot of junk food consumed.

Candy!

Pretty as ever.

Funnel Cake

Dippin Dots

Cotton Candy

French fries, plus hot dogs, chicken tenders and lots of soda.
It was fun being around these kids. They decided to spend the night with us, so we went home and watched a movie. Bandit really liked Ian.

10 Years - Happy Anniversary

Dave and I got away for the day for our 10th anniversary. We went to one of our favorite little towns.

Occoquan - a very cute little town with a lot of cute little shops.
We gave each other this door for our front entry. It really brightens up our foyer.
Dave trying out our new door.

Dave bought me this rose necklace. Not a very good picture but it is lovely and will be something special to give to Meighan Rose someday.

Samantha, Alex and Meighan

Samantha - pretty as ever. She will be in the 7th grade!

These guys don't get a bottle of coke very often.

Sami, still quite an gymnist.

The twins love their big sister.

Having fun!

More fun!
