Lots of Summer Birthdays
We have a lot of birthdays to celebrate in the summer. Kari's birthday is June 1, so we had a little celebration.
I made this Strawberry Cake from Ina Garten's book " Barefoot Contessa Parties"! I will definitely be making this again, a perfect summer treat.
It has been very warm here 95 plus degrees - calls for a lot of water!!
The Yard is Looking Good!
We are pleased with the return of our perennials and the seeds we planted are starting to sprout pretty well.
Dave is adding another section of picket fence on the side of the house.
We put Boston Ferns in the window boxes of the shed. We are trying to add plants around the shed, but the soil is not good - lots of roots too!
This is a huge plant Dave is looking at, we love it but can't remember what it is. I will have to hit my garden book and try to find out.
This is my "Thyme" area. The tall plant on the fence is a Marshmallow Plant. I must have had a smudge on my camera - there is a cloudy spot to the right of some of these pictures.
That's the stone bench Dave made, we forgot there was a plant there and it is doing very well - Calla Lily.
We were loaded with moles and they were destroying our plants. Joyce from work said to purchase these noise makers that go in the ground and the noise would ward off the moles. So we have several throughout the yard and there are less mole tunnels around. So hopefully they are gone for good. They really ruined our roses. We will probably have to replace all of them.
Collards and Marigolds.
Cauliflower.
Broccoli Raab or is it Rabe?
