Florida Vacation

We spent 2 weeks in New Smyrna Beach - it was wonderful, even though the weather could have been warmer.
We were upstairs in this unit and had a great view of the beach and the ocean.
Walk way to the beach.
The dogs loved the beach, but we soon found out it was against the law to have them on the beach.
High rise next to where we stayed.
Too bad, the dogs loved walking on the beach, but we took them to the sidewalk on the main street when we learned that dogs were not allowed on the beach.
We took bags with us to clean up the puppy poop.
A couple from Wisconsin were staying in the condo below us.
Foot Shaped Pool?
Front entrance.
Each unit had a garage and a washer and dryer.
We enjoyed the deck for a few days, then the wind was difficult to handle, making it very chilly.
Relaxing in the AM.
Downtown New Smyrna.
We ate here 3 times - yummy food and the best burgers in the area.
We  did a little exploring and found some thrift stores.
This was my favorite restaurant -
We ate outside.
The day's specials on a noodle.
Almond Joy martini - awesome!
There was a cute gift shop - broken pottery for sale - 50 cents per pound.
The food was to die for.
We went to the Farmer's Market on Saturday.
Gorgeous plants.
Oysters.
Another Yorkie!
I really wanted a Olive
Tree, but it wouldn't have fit in our car.
Had to have one.

Dickie and Cathy came to visit for a few days.

Getting ready to watch the game.
Super Bowl.
Cathy mad this awesome brie - so yummy.
Rain - yuck.
Soft shell crab - my favorite.
We went to Cocoa Beach and were in a craft mall and I ran into an old coworker - can you believe it?  I had no idea she was in Florida on vacation.  That's her husband in the background.
Peach cupcake.
Loved the downtown area of Cocoa, but the beach was not as nice as New Smyrna.
Came back to New Smyrna for dinner - fish taco's!!!
On the beach...
reading...
taking a nap..
Yummy soup..
Found a place to go dancing.
We met a very nice young man - he told us about his restaurant.."Flip Flops", so we went the next evening for dinner.  His co-worker won the first series on Hell's Kitchen.
We were not disappointed.
The food and atmosphere was supreme.
The best crab legs per Dave.
I had chicken with figs = so good.
Our last night we went to another recommended restaurant; Dave wanted oysters on the half shell.
I had ribs!!!
On the way home we went by Jacksonville to meet Dave's nephew's son - Christian who was born on Christmas Eve.
So cute.
Jennifer, Hunter and Dave holding Christian.
We enjoyed our visit so much.
Christian's room - too cute!
Jennifer's grandmother made these cute pictures.
Their cat..
Hunter and Dave.
I made a scarf on the way.
Dave found some baseball cards.
I made these for a summer banner.
and I finally started the shawl that I bought the yarn and pattern for in St. Louis when we were there at Christmas.
All the yarns for the shawl, but I am stuck - I can't figure out the pattern, so I will have to wait to go to the shop in St. Louis - which I hope won't be long.  The twins turn 6 on March 4 so hopefully will be there for their birthday.
