Myrtle Beach

Dave and I headed for Myrtle Beach two weeks ago and had a great time. I am starting off with this picture because I forgot to post it at the beginning. This is a funny story. One of the girl's I work with told me to bring her something back. Like what? She said a turtle or something. So Dave noticed a sign at one the gift shops they had turtles! So we got her one. I had to pack her well so she wouldn't get sloshed around. Myrtle the turtle made it back to Richmond. We thought she was going to die, she just didn't have much life and would not eat. Dave brought her to my work on Monday - My coworker was so excited and I think she really did like her. I remember my brother and I had several of these little turtles growing up.
Dave relaxing on the balcony. We stayed at the Ocean's Beach Club where we have stayed in the past.

The weather wasn't that great the first two days, so we shopped.
Found this great knitting shop. Cute name huh?

Yarn picked out to make a sweater for Mieghan.

Funny, BIG rooster.
Broadway on the Beach - not many people walking around. It was a little cool.
Lots of good eating.
One of our favorite spots - Ocean Annie's - they have a band night and day. Close enough to where we stay that we can walk.

Just a little windy.
Holding down the music sheets with whatever was handy.
I read two really good books:
"All The Numbers" - very good, a tear jerker but good. Plus I read "Sara's Key" - I lost the picture somehow. I was an emotional wreck after reading it but I couldn't put it down.

A Walk Through the Yard

Dave's pond and his frog collection. Dave has a collection of frogs around his pond, some are quite cute. This little guy is fishing.
This one relaxing and tanning in the sun.

Fat Toad.
A frog spitter.

A sweet couple.

The garden is coming along.
A mix of salad greens.
Sugar Snap Peas
Tomatoes and more lettuce around the edges.
This rainbow appeared after a rain shower.
I love sitting on our front porch. I was doing some work from home recently and Bandit joined me. Wish I could work from here every day.

It's Party Time

I did a little cooking over the weekend. Yummy bread, I am getting a lot of use out of my new bread maker. Tomato Cheese Pie - very good. I am testing new recipes with tomatoes since I think we are going to have a good crop of tomatoes this year.
Coconut Cream Cake for a birthday party at work on Monday. This is a yellow cake mix, after baking holes are punched all over and cream of coconut milk is poured over it, then topped with cool whip and covered with yummy coconut.

I also tested a new cheesecake recipe from this book and it was so good I made another the next day for the BD party at work. This cook book is fantastic. Everything I have made from it has been delicious. I have been checking it out at the library. I am trying not to purchase any new cook books - I have a ton of them and am running out of places to put them. I will have to do an inventory and see exactly how many I have.
The cheesecake turned out great - very high and no cracks. It was so good you didn't need any toppings. I had blueberry, cherry, caramel and cool whip for toppings but most people liked it without. This is definitely my go to recipe for cheesecake from now on.
Dave always requests cherry topping on his cheesecake.
Joyce Twitty is on the left, the birthday girl and the nurse I job share with. That is Lynn our branch manager on the right.
We love having parties and we all love to eat!

These candles were so pretty; the flames were the color of the candle. I forgot where I had purchased them but found some later in the week at Marshall's, so I stocked up for future parties.

What's inside?
There is a inside story behind this gift - we all had a good laugh.
This was the cutest gift I found. Pretty blue yarn, knitting needles and a pattern for a scarf in a take out Chinese box. Joyce is a great crafter - very talented.
Hope you had a great birthday!
