Thanksgiving Day

We had a very nice Thanksgiving. Slept late and had a great breakfast, Dave's favorite egg and sausage casserole and honey dew melon. We watched the parade and the dog show. I prepared most of our dinner on Wednesday night so I wasn't as rushed on Thursday. Amy, Paul, Meighan, Alex and Samantha ( another reason to be thankful since we didn't think Sami would be here this year) came for dinner. We had turkey and dressing, mashed potatoes, gravy, pasta salad, deviled eggs and sweet potato casserole. For dessert there was pumpkin pie and boston cream pie, both were purchased from Matlin for a school fund raising. So I didn't have to make dessert! The twins are good eaters at times - Meighan must have eaten 10 ripe olives - they really surprise me with the variety of foods they like. It was a sad day in away since my Mother and Charlie weren't here. We always spent Thanksgiving with them. Lots of firsts this year for me without my Mother. But Dave and I are grateful for each other, our kids and grandkids.

First, a little knitting news. I finally finished the little pumpkin hats for Meg and Alex. They turned out rather cute.

Don't they look cute?

The stem on Meg's hat is lime green, one of my favorite colors for her, along with pink, purple...any color!

Cute Pictures

I have been meaning to post these pictures for a while.

Alex having some of Grandpa's sherbet.

Meighan and Cooper.

The kids love to play with this frog.

The newest member of our family - Bandit. Given to us by my boss. We were reluctant to have another dog but we wouldn't know what to do with out him now. He is very sweet and he and Cooper get along great.

The kids love him too!

Alex is such a ham and as cute as he can be. He is playing with my measuring spoons.

Meighan in my kitchen cabinets, wearing her crown she got at McDonalds.

Meg wouldn't leave the crown on to take a picture - definitely has a mind of her own.

Dave's Grandaughter Comes Home

On Friday November 10th before we headed out of town for the Va. Tech game against Kent State we went by Dave's son Brian's house and he and Monica arrived home from the hospital with Samara Elizabeth. We got some really cute pictures.

Grandkids Day!

We had Meighan and Alex today - so never a dull moment. They spent the night last night and for some reason Meighan kept waking up so I slept most of the night in the room with them. They both woke up in good moods so Dave and I packed them up to go visit Dave's new grandaughter - Samara Elizabeth was born yesterday and Dave was there but I had to attend a class for work so I didn't get to be there. The twins were fascinated and I got to hold her. Sooo cute and Monica looks great and will be going home on Friday. There were a lot of people in the room so we didin't stay long. Can't wait to see them again when they get home. It was a fun day and the twins were cute as usual. We won't be keeping them next week - we will be in Chicago. I will really miss them.

The twins enjoying their bath - they love the water.

Halloween and the first week of Novemer

It has been a very busy week. Our family suffered a great loss. My dear ex- father in law and my Amy's grandfather died at the age of 90. His health had been deteriorating for a long time and he passed away peacefully last Monday. There was a service for him today. Dave and I went to get the twins ready so Amy and Paul could attend the service and we met them afterwards at the reception that they had at the church. My mother in law (Mrs. Robertson) is doing well and plans on staying in her home. Amy and I are glad that she will still be near by so we can see her as often as possible. I think her day was made today when Meighan called her "Mimi".

The kids came over for Halloween and it was fun to see them in their cute costumes. The weather was so warm we pulled them around the culdesac in their wagon and visited some of our neighbors. I wanted to share a few pictures.

I can't seem to go in a store and not buy the kids clothes. Too many cute things!

Corduroy, navy blue pants and red plaid shirt for Alex.

Denim dress for Meighan.

Boots for Meighan and new white shoes for Alex.

And they must have Hokie wear!

I have this thing for shoes and now I have this thing for Meg shoes. I can't resist.

Our little pumpkin - Meg.

Our little puppy with Daddy. Alex went around all night saying "woof woof". Too cute.

And our two babies - on the left our new puppy - Bandit and Cooper our 9 year old baby. The devil horns and angel halo are appropriate.
