Halloween Dinner

We had Brian and his family for dinner last weekend. The menu included hot artichoke dip, which came from one of my Gooseberry Books. It was very good and I plan on making it again real soon. The main dish was meatball and sausage lasagna. I don't think I have ever made lasagna from scratch before - it was a little labor intensive but very good.

Dessert was a Graveyard Pizza ( recipe from kraftfoods.com ). The base is a brownie mix spread in a pizza pan, baked and marshmallows added just until browned, then add crushed oreo's and decorate:
Aidan added the final touches: gummy worms, decorated oreos, eyeballs......

Pretty cute and pretty yummy!

Samara - what a cutey!

The kids enjoyed playing with the dollhouse.

Yeah, dessert!!!

Sure hope Monica and Brian aren't mad about all the SUGAR!

Fall Garden

Fall is showing up all around us in the yard. Leaves are falling - Dave will have to put the net over the pond soon. There are more acorns in the yard than you can imagine - just ask Dave, he spends hours on his knees picking up acorns so he can cut the grass.

The last few tomatoes from the garden.

The asparagus was beautiful with huge, airy foliage, just hope we have some to eat next year.

We planted a few fall vegies: collards and brocolli.

My favorite herb - rosemary. This is a sign that is painted on screen.

Dave built this platform under our table, which eliminates a lot of mess from being directly on the ground.

My tobacco basket has seen its better days.

Another sign painted on screen.

Can you believe it? We have strawberries - very sweet.

We use to have this little stone fishing boy at the lake. It has been at the shed, I think it looks great by our little pond.

Time to rest Dave - he works so hard on our yard.

Dave's Summer Project

Dave built a tree house for Ian this past summer. It was quite a project - it turned out great and I think Ian really likes it.

Pretty cool Grandpa!

Fall Updates

Halloween cookie time! I have been busy making cookies - I always pull out a recipe that I have used since before Amy was born. I have made a few changes over the years - but these cookies are delish and I make them most holidays. It is messy and time consuming but worth it.

T
These are candy corn cookies from Martha Stewarts' EveryDay Food. They are quite good.

I found this cute pattern for pillowcase dresses - I want to make more, they are so cute. I made this one for Meighan for Halloween.

A ghost for our little man.
This is a felt bag that I started knitting last year. I just finished the handles and I am going to felt it soon. It is huge! I am a little nervous as to how it may turn out.

Embroidered shirt with ribbons.

We wanted something good and chocolatey, so I made Pots de Creme.

They turned out beautiful.

Upside down ramekins.

The inside is a chocolate sauce - heaven on a plate.

Dave and I love steak - he loves hamburger steak with mushroom gravy. I like the real thing, marinated in Teriyaki and cooked med rare.

I have finally found a bread machine recipe that is perfect!

I made this dish a few weeks ago - Lentils with sausage. I had never made lentils before - good, but not our favorite.
