Beach Music Weekend at Virginia Beach

Dave picked me up from work on Thursday and we headed for Virginia Beach for the "Beach Music Weekend". We have attended this event for the last couple of years and we always have a blast. As soon as we checked in we headed to the Hilton (3 blocks down from where we were staying). There was a band playing, we found a spot and ordered drinks and appetizers.

They have these fire pit tables that help when there is a chill in the air -- of course I ordered a apple martini.

A few tables have umbrellas.

As soon as our shrimp appetizer arrived it started raining, so we headed inside.

The rest of the weekend was gorgeous.

This is a free event every year, the weekend before Memorial Day.

This is the Hilton Hotel, the stage for the festival is on the beach across from the Hilton. The rooms here are $250 - $400 per night. Needless to say, we stay 3 blocks down at the Econo Lodge. The Hilton and the hotels on each side sponsor this event.

Neptune Park across from the Hilton. On Sunday there was some kind of Redskin's event.

The awesome Neptune statue across from the park.

Paul, Amy, Sami, Alex and Meighan came down Saturday.

Our gorgeous Samantha.

The kids really enjoyed the sand and the ocean. Grandpa too.

Alex, not sure what he is doing, but he had fun chasing the waves.

Meg loves the water -- it was very cold.

Catching some rays.
The entertainment was very good. This is the "Main Event Band"

The "Entertainers"

"The Tams"

"General Johnson and the Chairmen of the Board".
Craig Woolard Band
Band of Oz.
Bands I didn't get pictures of: The Embers and Bill Deal's Rhondels. Fantastic music!!
The festival ended about 6:00 pm on Sunday. We headed for dinner at one of our favorite restaurants - The Raven.
My favorite appetizer - Artichoke - this thing was huge.

The mess that is left after it is eaten. Dave hates them - too little food for a lot of work.

Dave's souvenir - T-Shirt.
